I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to :
- get an overall view of 
 + the topic of the whole unit “ FURTHER EDUCATION " 
 that they are going to be taught in the unit through a dialogue ( accompanied by a comprehension task – questions and answers)
- have some practice with the vocabulary items
Academic / vocational course/ major undergraduate / post graduate / bachelor / doctorate /master / B.A /M.A./ Ph. D. degree / scholarship

1. Activity 1: Situation setting
a/ Read the title FURTHER EDUCATION and guessing the content of the dialogue
 “ T leads to the lesson : Further Education 
b/ Brainstorming general knowledge:
-have ss work in pairs and talk to each other about what they know / what they hope to...e the sentences with words from GETTING STARTED
1. .. courses should teach practical skills in addition to critical thinking 
2. When a student enters a college or university , he / she has to choose a main subject of study , which is called .
3. Specialised courses such as design and cooking are very popular 
4. Students with bachelor ‘s degrees can pursue ..education to get master ‘s or doctoral degrees
5. Higher education students need to have  skills so that they can analyse a problem scientifically

HOMEWORK:
-have ss learn new words and redo the tasks / prepare “ GRAMMAR”
-Read the title FURTHER EDUCATION and guessing the content of the dialogue
-guess the content of the dialogue
-work in pairs and talk to each other about what they know / what they hope to know about FURTHER EDUCATION
- listen to the CD and practice the dialogue in pairs ( 3 minutes) and call out its main content
have them check whether their predictions are right or wrong 
-read the dialogue and and complete the diagrams
- do the task 3 individuallyà check in pairs
-Answer keys:
1.They can pursue further education
2. They can help students develop analytical skills , critical thinking and knowledge for higher education at a university or college 
3.Because they want to take some time before deciding on their career and major
4. Taking a gap year can allow students to do voluntary work or internships, and travel .This practical experience will help make their CVs look good
