Lesson 4 : Speaking GOING GREEN
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to :
1.Skills:
-practise their speaking skill (talking about causes and effects of global warming)
-use some relating vocabulary items and structures to express opinions/ agreements/ disagreements
2. Abilities:
-have the ability to work in pairs and groups effectively to share opinions and information

Date of planning: 6/1/2021 Date of teaching: 11A1 – WEEK 19 ( 11-16/1/2021) Period 58 Unit 6: GLOBAL WARMING Lesson 4 : Speaking GOING GREEN I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to : 1.Skills: -practise their speaking skill (talking about causes and effects of global warming) -use some relating vocabulary items and structures to express opinions/ agreements/ disagreements 2. Abilities: -have the ability to work in pairs and groups effectively to share opinions and information II. PREPARATION: textbooks, handouts III. PROCEDURE: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warm-up: Picture describing - have ss work in pairs ( one st has a picture with a man going to work by bike and the other st has a picture with a girl going to work by motorbike) and compare the pictures à question: Which activity is better for the environment? What else can we do to make the environment better? 2. Pre-speaking: a/ Idea brainstorming: pair workà tick... these can reduce global warming significantly. I believe that (5) are more effective, because they can reduce waste and pollution, and conserve natural resources. b/ Discussion: - have ss work in pairs to express their ideas about the activities that can help reduce global warming - circulate to offer help when needed, take notes of common mistakes for afterward comments and correction and give marks where suitable 4. Post- speaking: -have ss perform their discussion in front of the class -other ss give comments - give mark Homework: have ss prepare “ Listening” -work in pairs ( one st has a picture with a man going to work by bike and the other st has a picture with a girl going to work by motorbike) and compare the pictures -answer the question -list some more activities useful for the environment -work in pairà tick the activities that can help to reduce global warming 1 2 4 5 6 -do the matching task in pairs -elicit ss to call out their matching outcome in full sentences Ex: 1.e I think reusing and recycling glass, plastic, paper and other products because this helps to reduce waste and pollution, and conserve natural resources. 2 b 4 c 5 a 6 d -do the task in pairs -work in pairs to express their ideas - perform their discussion in front of the class -other ss give comments -prepare “ Listening” Date of planning: 6/1/2021 Date of teaching: 11A1 – WEEK 19 ( 11-16/1/2021) Period 59 Unit 6: GLOBAL WARMING Lesson 5 : Listening SAVE THE PLANET, SAVE OUR LIFE I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to : 1. Skills: - practise their listening skill ( listening for specific information ) through such tasks as MATCHING,ANSWERING QUESTIONS, FILLING IN THE GAPS - learn some new vocabulary items related to the topic Vocabulary: famine, forest fire, drought, flood, water shortage Ability: - have the ablity to understand a talk about the topic Global Warming to broaden their knowledge about this...d about the topic? 4. Post- listening: Group work -have ss work in groups and discuss if the weather patterns in Vietnam has changed over the last ten years Homework: practice listening and doing the tasks again -do the matching task 1c 2d 3a 4e 5b -read the words - read the statements and the instruction - listen to the CD 2 times and do the task Answer: 1D 2B 3B 4C 5A - read the statements - listen to the CD (2 times) and do the task - compare the answers in pairs -listen to t’s feedback ( along with the CD) Answers: 1. Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, water vapour 2. The thick layer of the greenhouse gases traps more heat from the sun leading to the increase of the temperature on the earth. 3. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: Abilities: - to write an article to propose solutions to problems facing people with disabilities. - to build an article with given suggestions in article format . - to use modals in active / passive forms in proposing solutions . Skills: - use appropriate language to write an essay about the causes and effects of global warming and possible solutions to it - write formally, work in groups, work in pairs II.
