1. Activity 1:  Situation setting

a/  Picture observing and guessing:

-have   Ss observe the picture  / page 38 and guess the content of the dialogue (What are the students are going to do ? ) 

  • lead to the lesson     CITY  LIFE  IN  2050 

b/ Brainstorming general knowledge:

-have ss work in pairs and talk to each other about what they think about the  city in 2050    “ Will it better or worse ? Why ?”

c/ Listening to and practicing the dialogue 

- have ss listen to the CD and practice the dialogue in pairs  ( 3 minutes) 

-  have them check whether their predictions are right or wrong

1-What is Phong  , Ha , and Chi ‘s assignment about ?

2- Do Phong and Chi think that life in 2050  will be  better ? Why or why not ?

I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to :
- get an overall view of city life in the future 
 - get to know the topic and some vocabulary related to the topic CITIES OF THE FUTURE that they are going to be taught in the unit through a dialogue ( accompanied by a comprehension task – and a sentence completing task )
- have some practice with the vocabulary items

- have some information about the future life 
 -learn some new vocabulary items related to the topic
