 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 1. identify the situations for a conversation between Miss Hien and pupils 
(setting, participants, topic);
 2. use the structures: What day is it today? - It’s........ to ask and answer about 
days of the week 
 3. Ask and answer question about someone’s days of the week , using:
 - What day is it today? - > It’s.........
 4. show great pride in days of the week with positive impacts and respect 
for their days of the week by using appropriate gestures and intonation in 
communication.

 Activity 1: Warmer: Greeting and songs
 - Greet Ss. Then get the class to sing the song What days is it today? On you 
tube.
 - Elicit ways of greetings and lead students to the new lesson.
 Activity 2: Language input (Look, listen and repeat.)
 - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to 
help them understand the communication situations in each picture.
 1. Who's she? (Miss Hien)
 2. Where are they? (in the classroom)
 3. Is Monday? (No/ yes) 
 4. What day is it today? (Monday) 
 5. What next day? ( Tuesday)
 - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the picture 
twice
 - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the story. Explain 
what each character says. Check comprehension and give feedback.
 - Remind students to remember days of the week to use appropriate gestures 
and intonation in greeting and making friends.
 - Play CD, Activity 1, pointing at each speech bubble for Ss to listen and 
repeat the sentence(s) twice. 
 - Point at each bubble for Ss to read the sentence(s). 
 - Elicit the sentence patterns “- What day is it today? -> It’s.........” from the 
conversation, explain the meaning and use of the sentence patterns.
 Activity 3: Controlled & guided practice (Point and say)
 - Present the activity. Encourage Ss to talk about the meaning of the 
sentences in practice. Point at the group of words under each picture, check 
comprehension, and give feedback. Have Ss repeat each group twice.
 - Play CD, Activity 2 for Ss to repeat twice. 
 - Interact with Ss to say days of the week, ask and answer questions about 
days of the week. 
 - Get Ss to practise in pairs asking and answering questions about days of the 
week
 - Ask Ss to work in pairs and says - Call on some pairs to demonstrate their conversations in front of the class.
 - Give feedback and comments on each conversation and correct Ss’ 
 mistakes if necessary. 
 Activity 4: Task 2: Guided practice (Chain game) 
 - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 5. S1 say out the 
 sentence.S2 repeat the S1’s sentence then add one days of the week. S3 do the same 
 in turn.then turn back. Who has incorrect sentence fail.
 Eg: S1: It’s Wednesday
 S2: It’s Wednesday and Friday
 S3:It’s Wednesday, Friday and Thursday
 S4 : ...
 - Call on some groups to perform on the board
 - Give feedback and comments on the reports and correct Ss’ mistakes if 
 necessary.

 - Ask students to answer the following questions: 
 What have you learnt from the lesson today?

 communication.
