 UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN.
 Lesson 2 
 I.AIMS.
 - By the end of this lesson, Students will be able to ask and answer about 
someone’s nationality.
 - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills.
 II. TEACHING AIDS:
 1. Teacher’s: students’ and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, puppets.
 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
 III. TEACHING PROCESSES:
 1. Class organization:
 - Greeting
 - Checking for the students' attendance.
 2. Oral test:
 - Ask Ss write the new words(America, England,Japan,Australia)
 3. New lesson:
 *Warm up: Let’s sing “Where are you from?”
 *Vocabulary:
 - Vietnamese: Người Vietnam
 - English: Người Anh
 - Australian: Người Úc
 - nationality: Quốc tịch
 - Malaysian: Người Malaysia
 Checking: what and where
 1. Look, Listen and repeat:
 - Have Ss to look at the book at page 14.
 - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying.
 - Set the scene: we are going to listen to a dialogue between Akiko and 
interviewer.
 - Play the recording one time to pupils listen.
 - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles 
two times. - Divide the class into two groups. One repeat the Akiko’s part and the 
other repeat interviewer’s part.
 - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the 
speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation.
 2. Point and say:
 - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 14
 - Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names. - Ask Ss to guess 
and complete the speech bubbles.
 - T models/ allocates the parts of characters the boy and the girl to Ss
 - Ask them to act out the dialogue. Repeat the step with some other pairs 
for pictures.
 - Model sentence: What nationality are you?(Quốc tịch của bạn là gì?)
 I’m Vietnamese.(Tôi là người Việt Nam)
 - Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures.
 - Monitor the activity and offer held. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, 
assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary.
 - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The 
others observe and give comments.
 - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their 
pronunciation. 
 3. Let’s talk: 
 Have Ps work in pair.
 - Display in class, others comment
 - Listen and correct.
 - Have Ps practice
 4.Listen and number:
 - T opens tape two time.
 - Students listen and number
 - Call ss to write the answer on the board .

 UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN.
 Lesson 3
 I.AIMS: 
 - By the end of the lesson students will be able to Pronounce correctly the 
sound of the letters “ j, v ” and Say what nationality they 
 - Skills: Listening and reading.
 II. PREPARATION
 - Audio and visual aids: Recordings, handmade puppets, flashcards or 
photographs of pupils
 III. PROCEDURES
 - I’m Vietnamese
 - Let Ss pay attention to the letters coloured differently.
 - Have Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ J, V” in the words 
Vietnamese, Japan
 - Play the tape and ask Ss to listen.
 - Play the tape again and ask Ss to repeat each line of the text in chorus.
 - Have Ss read in groups/ in pairs.
 2.Listen and tick.
 - Have Ss look at the words in part 2 (p. 16) to identify where they are 
and set up the task.
 - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and tick the boxes. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers.
 - Check and correct.
 Answer: 1.a 2.b
 - Have some ss retell.
 4. Read and complete .
 - Ask pupils to read the text and complete the table
 - Call on some Ss to say before the class
 - Ask Ss to work in individual
 - Ask 2 Ss to write on the board
 - Ask some Ss to read their answers aloud to the class. The rest of the 
class listen and give comment
