Week 12 Wednesday, December 1st 2021 UNIT 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? Lesson 1 ( 1-2 ) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about when someone has a subject. - Sentence Patterns: When do you have ___? − I have it on ___. - Vocabulary: Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri. 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love their class, love subjects and love teachers. - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about their subjects. - Practise in pairs II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1.Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2.Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. * Warm up: T :What do you like doing? Student: - have the class say the chant Flying a little kite and clap their hands. *Vocabulary: - subject: môn học - IT: môn Tin học - Maths: môn Toán - Music: môn Âm nhạc - English: môn Tiếng Anh - Vietnamese: môn Tiếng Việt - Art : môn Mỹ Thuật - Science: môn Khoa học * Check-up vocabulary: R.O.R 1.Look ,listen and repeat. - Tell pupils that they are going to read a story in which pupils ask and answer questions about school subjects. - Have them look at the four pictures to discuss the context in which the language is used. Ask some questions such as Who are they? Where are they? Who are they talking about? Check comprehension. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat. Model sentence: S1:What subjects do you have today? S2:I have Vietnamese,Maths and English. Note: Mẫu câu dùng để hỏi và trả lời về các môn học. S1:What subjects do you have today? S2:I have +Subjects - Students practise asking and answering questions about school subjects , using What subjects do you have today?I have... 2.Point and say. - Have them look at the pictures to understand how to name the school subjects. - Point to Picture a and have pupils repeat the word of the subject under it. What subjects do you have today? I have Maths. Do choral and individual repetition Picture b,c,d,e,f - Runthrough all the pictures. - Then tell pupils to practise asking and answering about the subject in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the word under the picture. - Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Invite a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Check as a class and correct pronunciation. Work in pairs. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise in pairs: one asks and the other answers questions about the actual subjects they have today, using What subjects do you have today?I have ..... - Have them work in pairs, one asking and the other giving the answer. - Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, necessary. *Homelink. - Learn by heart the new words and model sentence. - Be ready for lesson 1(P2) friday, December 3rd 2021 Unit 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TO DAY? Lesson 2 (P1) I. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 2. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about when someone has a subject. - Sentence Patterns: When do you have ___? − I have it on ___. - Vocabulary: Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri. 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love their class, love subjects and love teachers. - United friend 4. Get them to identify the characters and the setting of the conversation by asking Who's this? What are they doing? What are they talking about? - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and Individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat. If time allows, ask a few pairs to role-play the conversation. * Model sentence: S1 :When do you have English? S2: I have it on Mondays,Fridays Note: Hỏi và trả lời về thời gian của các môn học. When do you have Science? and I have it on ... - Let them look at the timetable. Ask them to identify the names of the four pupils in the first column and the days when these pupils have Science. Check comprehension. . - Point to the first row of the table and get one pupil to ask When do you have Science, Sam? I have it on Mondays and Thursdays. Repeat the procedure with the other rows in the table. - Ask them to work in pairs and ask and answer the question, using the given text in the bubbles and the information in the timetable. - Call a few pairs to act out the exchanges. 3.Let’s talk. - Tell pupils that they are going to revise what they have learnt in Lessons 1 and 2. - Get them to work in pairs and ask and answer the three questions. - Remind them to answer with facts about themselves. 1. What subjects do you have today? I have . 2. When do you have Science? I have it on ... 3.Who is your .teacher? - Call a few pairs to act out their conversation. - Encourage pupils to observe and give comments in English. *Homelink. - Learn by heart the new words and model sentence. - Be ready for lesson 2: 4,5,6
