Activity 2: Sentence transformation

Have ss rewrite the sentences using the to-infinitive:

Ex: We were happy because we met some interesting people.

à We were happy to meet….

to infinitives à give reasons for the adjectives

 Lesson 1 : Getting started	An independent person
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson , students will be able to :
- get an overall view of 
 + the topic of the whole unit “ becoming independent” 
 that they are going to be taught in the unit through a dialogue ( accompanied by a comprehension task – questions and answers)
- have some practice with the vocabulary items
Independent, self-reliant, responsible, reliable, determined, well-informed, confident, decisive

a/ Listening to and practicing the dialogue 
- have ss listen to the CD and practice the dialogue in pairs ( 3 minutes) and have them call out its main content
b/ Comprehension check – Questions and answers
 ( in pairs)

Family words ( nouns/ adverbs) of “reliable, confident, independent, self-reliance, decisive, determined, responsible”
- use “to infinitives” after certain adjectives and nouns
